College of Engineering Munnar Declared a Drug-Free Campus
College of Engineering Munnar a unit of IHRD was officially declared a “Drug-Free Campus” on 5 October 2026 (Monday).
College of Engineering Munnar is the second institution in Idukki district to be declared a drug-free campus under the leadership of the Excise Department. Shanthigiri College, Vazhithala, was the first institution in the district to achieve this distinction.
The programme commenced at 2:00 PM. The function was presided over by Smt. Lakshmi A., Vice President, Munnar Grama Panchayat. Shri F. Raj, Hon’ble MLA, Devikulam Constituency, inaugurated the programme.
Smt. Arya V.M., IAS, Sub Collector, Devikulam, officially declared the campus a Drug-Free Campus.
The programme was attended by Ward Member Smt. Chrisleena Brighty, Shri. Prince Babu, Deputy Commissioner (Excise), Shri. Harikumar P.S., Assistant Commissioner (Excise), Shri. Dijo Das, Vimukthi District Coordinator, Dr. Jeoju M. Issac, Principal, College of Engineering Munnar, and Shri. Sudev S, Student Coordinator, Vimukthi Cell, among others, who conveyed their felicitations.
Prof. Abdul Salam K.K., Vimukthi Cell Coordinator, College of Engineering Munnar, proposed the vote of thanks.
The declaration marks an important step towards strengthening the college’s commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and drug-free educational environment for its students and the wider campus community.
